Have you used Traditional Chinese Medicine. (Acupuncture, herbs, massage) - has it worked for you? I'm really interested in it - but before I spend 7 years of my life to be an O.M.D. I want to know if people have had positive experiences with it.

  1. I've had it done once. I would love to go more but my insurance doesn't cover it and the charge is too expensive for me. The way my doctor explained it to me (my pcp is also a trained practitioner), the more you go, the longer it works. I work on my feet all day and my back is wound up really tight by the end of the day. I described my symptoms and she specialized my treatment and the location of the points. When she put the very first needle in, I felt my back release automatically. The whole experience was very pleasant, but the effects lasted only one day. I was a little sore the next day in my left bicep. That tends to be my problem side and I was very tight there. She said that was normal because of the release of the tension. It went away mid-day. I've been going to physical therapy twice a week. Through her best attempts of manual therapy, she still can't get my back to release quite as easily as the acupuncture did. (My therapist suggested I see them both to help my treatment) I would definitely go again and regularly if I could afford it.
  2. Go check out Community Acupuncture clinics. www.communityacupuncturenetwork.org/ They are some of the few people who are not only making money but seeing lots of people. You also need to start getting treatments... that would be ideal so you have first hand experience. It all works, particularly the herbs... A lot of potential doctors start out by taking Tai Chi, or Chi Kung classes for a while, as well as taking some Shiatsu or TuiNa classes locally before going into the field. It sounds like you need more experiences, and before spending $40k per year on training, I'd invest some time, studying some of the other components (mentioned above) that are part of being an OMD. Also check out Five Element Acupuncture (worsely). What part of the country are you in?
  3. I went to an accupuncturist for an elbow problem. That did the trick. I went to a TCM practitioner for dizzy spells and was given packets of herbs to boil and then drink the water that came out of it. The concoction smelled so terrible, I gagged trying to drink it down. The dizzy spells continued after 3 treatments so I stopped. I used to have my feet massaged by certified reflexologists a couple of times a month. I believe that was beneficial as a general health tonic and would go regularly if I had access to that service where I live now.
  4. It absolutely works.... go to www.ITMonline.org and read articles by the top expert It is sadly suppressed in this country (USA)
